Egyptian National Charged in Nairobi Over KSh 2.3 Million Fraud

An Egyptian national was on Tuesday arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts, charged with defrauding a Nairobi resident of more than KSh 2.3 million.

Yesse Abdelwahib Mohamed, the Director of Egypt power company located at Greenhouse Mall Ngong Road, appeared before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina, where he pleaded not guilty to a single count of obtaining money by false pretences.

The court heard that between March 1, 2024, and November 30, 2024, in Nairobi County, the accused allegedly used fraudulent tricks to induce Nasrah Ibrahim Roble to pay him KSh 2.3 million. He is accused of falsely claiming that he could import and install a water filtration machine on her farm, knowing the representation to be untrue.

Magistrate Onyina released Mohamed on a cash bail of KSh 200,000, rejecting his lawyer’s plea to reduce it to KSh 50,000. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) did not oppose bail or bond.

The matter will be mentioned on October 15, 2025, for pre-trial directions.
