Jayne Kihara Accuses State of Land Grab and Nepotism in Naivasha

Naivasha Member of Parliament Hon. Jayne Kihara has accused President William Ruto’s administration of orchestrating irregular land allocations and nepotism in state appointments within Naivasha.

Speaking during a public meeting, Kihara alleged that several public parcels — including Kenya Railways property, Naivasha Stadium land, and the Ndabibi Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) land — were being developed by individuals linked to top government officials. She urged the President to declare his interests in the ongoing projects and to ensure transparency.

“The people of Naivasha still remember how residents were violently evicted by Kenya Railways under the pretext of public development. Ironically, those same lands are now under the control of close associates of the President,” Kihara said.

She further questioned the conversion of Naivasha’s only stadium land into an affordable housing site without public consultation, terming it “a betrayal of community interests.”

The MP also criticized alleged irregularities in the compensation process for Maai Mahiu flood victims, claiming that beneficiary lists were being manipulated to favor politically connected individuals.

Additionally, Kihara accused state corporations such as Kenya Power and KenGen of biased hiring, asserting that most new recruits came from one community.

Efforts to obtain comment from government officials on the allegations were unsuccessful by the time of publication.

Kihara urged the government to uphold fairness, accountability, and public participation, warning that Naivasha residents would resist continued exploitation and dispossession.
