Farida Idris’s rise through Kenya’s media and communications landscape reads like a masterclass in self-belief and reinvention. From her early days selling timeshares in Nairobi and Sudan, she has become one of Africa’s most respected voices in branding and public relations.
Her big break came at just 22, after a chance meeting with the late industrialist Dr. Chris Kirubi, then owner of Capital FM. That encounter opened the doors to a 16-year career at the station — one that saw her move from a junior role to Commercial Director, helping shape the business and brand partnerships that defined the station’s success.
Today, Idris heads FID PR, a creative communications agency known for building authentic African brand stories that blend purpose with impact. She also runs Abyan Salon & Spa and The Tribe Vibe, ventures that spotlight African beauty, culture, and community.
Outside entrepreneurship, Idris has extended her influence through the Amahoro Coalition, where she has played a key role in advancing refugee inclusion and corporate collaboration across the continent.
She attributes her growth to the people she has worked with along the way. “Every step of my journey has been shaped by the incredible teams I’ve had the privilege to work with,” she often says.
From boardrooms in Nairobi to global stages like the United Nations in New York, Farida Idris continues to prove that authenticity, vision, and courage can turn opportunity into legacy — and that betting on yourself is often the best investment you can make.
