WHX Nairobi 2025: Kenya Strengthens Health Innovation Partnerships for UHC

The Ministry of Health has announced plans to collaborate with innovators to advance Kenya’s journey toward achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Speaking during the opening of the WHX Nairobi and WHX Labs 2025 Expo, Dr. Joel Gondi, who represented Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni, emphasized the government’s focus on strengthening primary healthcare through preventive and technology-driven approaches.

“I am very excited by the innovative solutions being showcased here from across the globe — products that can bring our dream of UHC to reality by ensuring quality healthcare reaches patients even in areas without specialized experts,” said Dr. Gondi.

He urged innovators and the private sector to join hands with the government in implementing Kenya’s digital health agenda.

“One of President William Ruto’s priorities is the use of digital solutions at the community level to improve service delivery. We are encouraging the adoption of digital systems for data and reporting, and we invite the private sector to partner with us to make UHC a reality,” he added.

The WHX Nairobi and WHX Labs 2025 expo has drawn more than 200 exhibitors, 65 international speakers, and 8,000 delegates from over 20 countries. The forum is focusing on addressing East Africa’s shortage of healthcare workers while exploring policies, technologies, and partnerships that are shaping the region’s healthcare future.

Dr. Gondi highlighted Kenya’s growing reputation as a regional hub for healthcare innovation.

“As Kenya, we are proud to be the hub of innovation in this region. We are the gateway to the East and Central Africa market in terms of medical tourism and technology transfer,” he said.

Among the exhibitors showcasing groundbreaking healthcare technologies are:

  • Nishimura Medical Instruments Kenya – a Japanese subsidiary and authorized distributor of Canon Medical Systems, featuring advanced CT scanner and ultrasound technology.
  • Bioline Fios Cirurgicos Ltda – a Brazilian company manufacturing surgical threads for diverse medical applications.
  • Farber Pharma – an Indian pharmaceutical company committed to making medicines accessible and affordable.
  • Radiometer – a global medical device firm introducing TriageGO, an AI-powered clinical intelligence tool that prioritizes emergency patients based on clinical risk, enhancing efficiency and safety in emergency departments.

The event runs from October 22 to 24, 2025, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.
