Mary Emaase Champions Women’s Economic Empowerment in Teso North

Teso South Member of Parliament Hon. Mary Emaase has reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to advancing women’s economic empowerment, describing it as a cornerstone of sustainable community development.

Speaking during the Economic Women Empowerment event for Teso North Sub-County, Hon. Emaase emphasized that when women are empowered economically, the benefits extend beyond individual households to strengthen families, enhance livelihoods, and uplift entire communities.

The event brought together several national and local leaders, including National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Moses Masika Wetang’ula, Hon. Farouk T. Kibet, Hon. Oku Kaunya, Busia Woman Representative Hon. Catherine Omanyo, Hon. Tindi Mwale, and Hon. Nabii Nabwera, among others.

Hon. Emaase commended the collaborative spirit that defined the event, noting that the joint contributions made toward women’s empowerment initiatives marked a significant milestone in advancing affirmative action and inclusion. She noted that when women have access to financial resources and entrepreneurship opportunities, the ripple effect is transformative—impacting not just families, but entire societies.

She expressed her gratitude for being part of the noble initiative, saying it aligns with the government’s broader agenda of equity, empowerment, and sustainable development. The legislator reaffirmed her personal commitment to supporting programs that promote entrepreneurship, access to credit, and sustainable livelihoods for women in Teso and beyond.

Hon. Emaase lauded fellow leaders for their unity and shared vision of economic transformation, stressing that such collective efforts are crucial in helping women realize their full potential.

She concluded by affirming that women’s empowerment is not merely a social obligation but an economic imperative that drives inclusive national progress. “When women rise,” she said, “communities thrive.”
