PS Forestry Gitonga Mugambi Joins Chief of Staff Felix Koskei in Nakuru Tree-Growing Drive Ahead of Mau Conservation Programme Launch

The Principal Secretary for Forestry, Mr. Gitonga Mugambi, today joined the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Mr. Felix Koskei, Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Dr. Deborah Barasa, and Principal Secretary for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Eng. Festus Ngeno, in a major tree-growing exercise at the Gacharage Forest Block in Kuresoi North, Nakuru County.

The initiative is part of the Government’s sustained efforts to advance environmental conservation and sustainable livelihoods under the Mau Forest Complex Integrated Conservation and Livelihood Improvement Programme (MFC-ICLIP).

During the event, the Office of the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service formally adopted 50 hectares of the Gacharage Forest Block, reinforcing institutional commitment to ecosystem restoration, community empowerment, and climate resilience.

PS Mugambi reaffirmed the Government’s unwavering commitment to restoring and protecting the Mau Forest Complex, terming it one of Kenya’s most vital water towers that supports biodiversity, agriculture, and livelihoods.

The official launch of the MFC-ICLIP by H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto is scheduled for Monday, October 27, 2025, marking a key milestone in Kenya’s journey toward integrated forest management and sustainable development.

The Ministry continues to rally citizens to support the 15 Billion Tree Growing Programme, which aims to build a greener and more climate-resilient Kenya by 2032.

Together, we continue to #LindaMauBoreshaMaisha.
