Tusker Malt Bridges Art and Music With Kenny G Gift at Sold-Out Nairobi Show

Legendary American saxophonist and composer Kenny G received a unique gift on Saturday night after his electrifying performance at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

In front of a sold-out audience, EABL CEO and MD Jane Karuku presented him with a locally handcrafted saxophone as a tribute to his artistry and as a symbol of Tusker Malt’s celebration of mastery and creative expression.

The one-of-a-kind saxophone was designed by Cosmas Mumo, a craftsman from Gikomba’s renowned craft market, who spent a week shaping it from mvule wood and casing it in a mahogany box.

“When I was asked to create this piece, it was a special moment for me as an avid listener of Kenny G’s music. Every cut and curve was guided by dedication and appreciation for his artistry. This was an honor,” Mumo said.

The Grammy Award-winning musician delivered a soul-stirring performance that left the packed KICC Tsavo Ballroom spellbound, with his melodies resonating long after the final chord.

Reflecting on the event, Karuku praised both the performance and the cultural significance of the gift:

“Tusker Malt is built on the values of mastery and authenticity. Few artists embody those values like Kenny G. Presenting him with a locally crafted saxophone was our way of celebrating his artistry while honoring the incredible creativity of our people.”

Tusker Malt’s involvement in the historic event underscored its commitment to championing culture, artistry, and elevated experiences. The concert not only showcased world-class talent but also amplified Kenya’s local craftsmanship on a global stage.

By the end of the night, social media was flooded with clips of Kenny G’s performance, capturing the magic of an unforgettable evening.
