LG Unveils Mobile Customer Service Unit to Enhance After-Sales Care in East Africa

By Njeri Irungu

NAIROBI, Kenya, September 5, 2025 – Buyers of LG electronics in East Africa will now have easier access to technical support and repairs following the launch of the LG Best Care Trailer, a 40-foot mobile customer service unit unveiled On Thursday in Nairobi.
The mobile support centre, launched at a Nairobi hotel, is designed to deliver after-sales services directly to consumers in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and potentially Zambia. It comes equipped with diagnostic tools, spare parts, and a team of trained technicians capable of handling LG’s wide product range, from smart TVs and refrigerators to AI-powered washing machines and audio systems.
“This initiative saves customers the time and cost of visiting service centres by bringing expert support right to their neighbourhoods,” said Donghun Lee, President of LG Electronics East Africa. “The LG Best Care Trailer ensures appliances continue to function efficiently, reflecting our commitment to customer satisfaction.”

The trailer will make regular stops across Nairobi’s diverse neighbourhoods, including Eastlands, South B, Kasarani, Westlands, and Kilimani. Weekly route updates will be shared on LG East Africa’s social media platforms. Customers can have products assessed, access on-site minor repairs, and receive maintenance tips from LG specialists.
Beyond technical services, the mobile unit doubles as a community engagement platform. It features a moving LED billboard, a stage with sound and lighting for talent showcases, and spaces for interactive activities.
LG’s move comes at a time when the company is experiencing strong market performance. According to industry data, LG commanded 57.5 percent of the global OLED TV market in 2024, with total TV shipments reaching 22.6 million units – representing 16.1 percent of global TV market revenue. The brand has also grown in popularity across other home appliance segments in East Africa.

“With Nairobi’s population of over 4.5 million, where around 70 percent rely on public transport, convenience in after-sales service is increasingly important,” noted Ronald Mitei, LG Electronics East Africa Service Director. “The Best Care Trailer decentralizes service delivery and reduces turnaround times, ensuring customers maximize value from their LG products.”
The company says it plans to expand the initiative to Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, and eventually to Uganda, Tanzania, and Zambia after a successful pilot phase in Nairobi.
