Royal Group of Companies Director Mohammed Hassan Ali stood out as a leading voice for quality manufacturing during the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) Diamond Mark Holders’ Engagement Breakfast held at the Nairobi Serena Hotel.Representing Kenya’s top certified manufacturers, Ali highlighted the transformative impact of the Diamond Mark of Quality, KEBS’ highest voluntary certification awarded to companies that consistently uphold international quality standards.“We are proud holders of the Diamond Mark for our steel, plastic tanks, and most recently, HDPE pipes,” said Ali. “This mark is not just a symbol, it is a powerful guarantee of trust, reliability, and product excellence. It has helped us elevate our brand and build lasting relationships with customers.”Royal Group has held the Diamond Mark on its plastic tanks for over six years. In 2022, it secured certification for its steel products and most recently received recognition for its HDPE pipes during the KEBS-hosted event. The group also has operations in real estate through its affiliate, King’s Developers.Ali emphasized that the Diamond Mark has become a decisive factor in securing new markets and instilling buyer confidence.“When clients ask for proof of quality, we present the Diamond Mark. That alone often closes the deal. It’s a major advantage in a competitive and increasingly discerning market,” he explained. He also raised concerns over counterfeit goods infiltrating the market, especially in the steel and plastic sectors, urging fellow manufacturers to pursue certification and prioritize consumer safety.“Kenya’s manufacturing future must be anchored in quality. We cannot let price wars compromise safety or reliability. The Diamond Mark provides that assurance,” Ali stated. The event was graced by top government officials including Cabinet Secretary for Industry, Trade and Investment Hon. Lee Kinyanjui, Principal Secretary Dr. Juma Mukhwana, and KEBS Managing Director Esther Ngari. All speakers lauded the Diamond Mark initiative as a crucial tool for enhancing Kenya’s global industrial competitiveness. As Kenya aims to grow its exports and position itself as an industrial powerhouse under the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda, the Diamond Mark and champions like Mohammed Hassan Ali are leading the way by making quality a national priority.
