Tanqueray Celebrates Sporting Legacy at the Simon Kuseyo Memorial Cup

Tanqueray, the world’s No. 1 premium gin, served as the official gin at the Simon Kuseyo Memorial Cup, hosted at the Nairobi Polo Club. The tournament, a highlight of the regional polo circuit, saw the Lagos Polo Club claim victory in a spirited match against their Nairobi rivals.

The Memorial Cup honors the legacy of the late Simon Kuseyo, a celebrated polo player and pioneer of the sport in Kenya. Raised in Gilgil, Kuseyo rose to become a five-goal handicap player — the highest-ranked Kenyan of his era. His career saw him compete across the world, from the UK and USA to Nigeria and South Africa, earning admiration for both his mastery of the game and his refined sportsmanship.
Established in 2000 following his passing, the tournament celebrates players who perform above their handicap and uphold the values of excellence and integrity that defined Kuseyo’s career.

“Polo is a sport synonymous with craftsmanship, elegance, and tradition — values that mirror Tanqueray,” noted Nancy Nansikombi, Tanqueray Brand Manager. “As the Lagos and Nairobi clubs came together to play for the Simon Kuseyo Memorial Cup, we were reminded that style and mastery transcend borders. Tanqueray is proud to celebrate the heritage of African polo and the refined spirit that connects both cultures.”

Beyond the on-field action, Tanqueray curated an immersive brand experience featuring cocktail artistry and fashion. Guests enjoyed polo-inspired gin serves and explored a fashion collection by Itikadi, showcasing contemporary elegance.

Through premier showcases like the Simon Kuseyo Cup, Tanqueray continues to reinforce its position as a gin of unwavering quality and distinctive character.
