Lamu East MP Ruweida Obbo Earns 66.6% Approval Rating, Honored for Anti-Drug Campaigns

Lamu East MP Ruweida Obbo has posted a strong 66.6% approval rating in the latest leadership rankings, cementing her position as one of the region’s most trusted legislators.

The approval reflects growing confidence in her efforts to champion development, fight drug abuse, and expand opportunities for youth through skills training and empowerment initiatives.

Hon. Obbo was also recently recognized with a Certificate of Excellence by Top Spin Brands for her outstanding contribution to the fight against drug abuse and youth empowerment in Lamu East.

In her acceptance remarks, the MP thanked her constituents and attributed the recognition to her hands-on leadership style. “They have seen how I walk with the people, listen to their cry, feel their struggles and pain, and manage to bring tangible solutions to their numerous problems. Today they have awarded me the certificate of excellence in recognition of my exceptional contribution to the anti-drug campaign and youth empowerment. May the glory and honour be to Allah,” she said.

Obbo has been vocal about the devastating impact of drug abuse in coastal communities and has prioritized initiatives that provide young people with alternative livelihoods through vocational and entrepreneurial training.

Her approval rating, alongside the award, underscores both public confidence and institutional recognition of her work, as she continues to position herself as a service-driven and accountable leader in Lamu East.
