Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Alice Kande, joined education leaders and policymakers in South Africa to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
The event commemorated three decades of SAQA’s contribution to strengthening quality assurance, promoting lifelong learning, and fostering the recognition of qualifications across South Africa and beyond.
In her remarks, Dr. Kande lauded SAQA for its pioneering role in shaping education and training standards, emphasizing that such efforts have been vital in promoting skills mobility and mutual recognition of qualifications across the African continent.
She reaffirmed KNQA’s commitment to deepening collaboration with SAQA and other regional qualifications frameworks to advance harmonized education systems that support Africa’s socio-economic growth, innovation, and competitiveness.
“The progress achieved by SAQA over the past three decades is a testament to what strong institutions can do in transforming education and empowering citizens,” said Dr. Kande. “KNQA remains committed to working together to ensure Africa’s skills are recognized, portable, and globally competitive.”
