The Maa Economic Bloc (MAAEB), in partnership with the counties of Kajiado, Narok, and Samburu, has announced that the 3rd Edition of the Maa Cultural and Tourism Festival will take place from November 5 to 8, 2025. The festival will be hosted at the Kimana Gate in Amboseli National Park, Kajiado County.
The annual event is a celebration of the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Maa community. It provides a platform to showcase indigenous knowledge, traditional leadership, arts, crafts, music, dance, and fashion while positioning the Maa region as a premier tourism and investment hub.
Organizers have emphasized that the festival goes beyond cultural expression to serve as a unifying platform for economic empowerment. A spokesperson for MAAEB noted that the gathering aims to bring together communities, investors, policymakers, and international partners to highlight culture as a catalyst for socio-economic transformation.
This year’s edition promises a wide array of activities, including a 15-minute documentary tracing the origins and history of the Maa people. Visitors can also look forward to cultural performances by various Maa sub-groups, tourism exhibitions, investment forums, and conservation awareness sessions exploring the link between culture, wildlife, and sustainable livelihoods. In addition, Maa youth and women groups will showcase fashion, cuisine, and art.
The choice of Amboseli National Park as the festival’s venue underscores the deep connection between the Maa people, their cultural identity, and the conservation of wildlife. Organizers view the festival as a symbol of unity among Maa-speaking communities and a significant contribution to Kenya’s global cultural tourism portfolio.
The four-day event is expected to attract both local communities and international visitors, offering a unique opportunity to immerse in and celebrate the heritage of the Maa people.
