Elachi Accused of Inflating ODM Delegate List with UDA Members Ahead of Elections

By Our Reporter

Dagoreti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi is facing fierce criticism from local ODM delegates, who accuse her of manipulating the party’s delegate list by illegally inserting members of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in an attempt to secure victory in the upcoming ODM elections.

The accusations, levelled by ODM delegates from the constituency, allege that Elachi, who joined the party relatively recently, has been working with previously dismissed election coordinators to infiltrate the delegate list with individuals who are not bona fide ODM members.

Josephine, the ODM Chairlady for Dagoreti North, expressed her outrage, stating, “This woman came here two years ago. We have been with Ogeto in the party for the last twenty years. Where does she want to take us now, bringing UDA members as delegates?”

The delegates have vowed to challenge Elachi in the chairmanship elections, asserting their unwavering support for Ogeto, whom they describe as the most qualified candidate. Sammy Nyaranga, the ODM Secretary General, echoed this sentiment, stating, “We thank Baba for his wisdom. Moving forward, Ogeto is our person and our Chairman. We don’t want people from Jubilee and UDA.”

The delegates’ strong reaction highlights the growing tension within the local ODM chapter, with accusations of political maneuvering and mistrust. The forthcoming elections are now poised to be a highly contested affair, with the legitimacy of the delegate list under intense scrutiny. The allegations raise questions about the integrity of the electoral process and the potential for internal party strife.
